Reflections of Ordinary

Reflections of Ordinary (Diptych) 2015 Plant Pigment on Hemp Canvas 1248 x 2455 x 35 The first light, or the last light, reflections. I used plants from my surrounds, intentionally sorted native to the right. Eucalyptus, bracken, silky oak, macaranga, lomandra, native ginger, grevillia, cabbage palm, the longer you stop and look the more leaves become recognisable. Then to the left moving down into the reflection are the introduced and invasive plants. Cobblers pegs, lantana, goats weed, grasses, some hardly leave a mark on the fabric, a stark contrast to reality. These are overlayed with eucalyptus leaves and leaf litter [...]

Inbetween – Featured Cover Eumundi Green 2016

In between Medium: Mixed media textiles (2015) Dimensions: 65 x 117 x 4 cm Inbetween Artist Statement: We are in-between, between the coast and the hinterland, between Noosa and Eumundi, our lives are spent travelling in-between places. The beauty of the surrounding scenery, the eucalyptus trees that are forever present, their shadows and grace. The leaves slowly moving in the wind, sometimes falling, leaving traces of colour on the ground as they decay. I have used the pigment and the actual leaves from one of our local trees to dye this work. The shadows in-between remind me of the [...]

Unresolved - (Installation) photo by Tony Webdale Hemp Canvas & Silk Cotton Hemp Swatches Eco Dyed, Wooden Chair 1700mm x 1300mm This work is from the body of work Lovingly Interrupted exhibited in 2014 at Gallery 159 Brisbane. The installation Unresolved is the final piece made for a mentored exhibition in 2014. I had visions of perfection, the most spectacular work accomplished so far. After months of preparation, I unrolled the dyed work to great disappointment. Nothing like I had hoped. And so it became an installation of unresolved ideas. The process for this work included collecting leaves, documenting place [...]
